Certified Flame Retardant Products & Insurance Policies
Flame retardant products should be used on all maritime building or renovation projects to
comply with your insurance policy. Failure to use certified products or non-compliance with the
guidelines set out by the UK Marine Equipment Regulations, EU Marine Equipment Directive (or
equivalent US Coast Guard accreditation) could invalidate your insurance. If in any doubt you
should check with your insurance company.
Ockwells Marine have made significant investments in Wheelmarked, Black Ensign,
WarringtonFire Certifire (TS63) and BRE (LPS1207) accreditations on our flame retardant products
to give you peace of mind when specifying and using our products.
WarringtonFire and BRE Global Ltd have the backing of The Association of British Insurers and
the Chief Fire Officer’s Association known as the Joint Code of Practice. WarringtonFire also have
approved EU Marine Equipment Directive (Wheelmark) and UK Marine Equipment Regulations
(Black Ensign) schemes, with which a number of our products are certified. Use of non-Certifire
or LPCB products may invalidate Insurance Policies for construction sites, the use of Ockwells
Marine certificated products offers confidence to both the installer and end client.
